Jennifer Costales is a wife, mother, and cancer survivor, who passionately believes in Rock Cancer C.A.R.E.’s mission. In 2018, Jennifer was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. came alongside her while she was going through treatment, to provide resources, encouragement, and prayer during a very vulnerable time. Jennifer says, “knowing that someone cared and understood what I was going through was incredibly comforting.” In 2019, when Jennifer recovered, she wanted to give back and became a volunteer with Rock Cancer C.A.R.E.
Jennifer has always enjoyed caring for and serving others. She began serving her community at the age of 15, when she volunteered at a camp for disabled adults. Jennifer served as Vice President for Health Occupation Students of America in East Aurora, NY., and won awards for her leadership skills. Jennifer has over 25 years of community involvement in San Diego. She has used her skills as a face painter, balloon maker, and clown to volunteer for such organizations as JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Rock Church gatherings, and on multiple occasions to support Rock Church Military events. Jennifer has served the homeless community for over 20 years, spearheading outreach functions to clothe and feed the homeless in San Diego. Jennifer is trained in Health Assisting, Early Childhood Development, Crisis Intervention, and Advocacy. Jennifer has been a leader in her community by providing resources, groceries, and support to low income families, single parents, children, elderly adults, domestic abuse survivors, and cancer patients. Jennifer has worked as a Caregiver and DJ for the last 26 years, which lends to her customer service skills in serving and connecting with others. Jennifer maintains a high standard of care when she cares for children and elderly adults. Jennifer’s high standards of care carry over to her Community Service work. Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. is the perfect non-profit for Jennifer to serve with, as she strongly aligns with its mission! Jennifer is able to help Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. fill in the gaps and provide needed resources and services to those who are afflicted by cancer.
